Event Description

The Northwest Perennial Alliance (NPA) welcomes Anne Raver, longtime garden columnist and writer for this lively and interesting lecture. Anne has spent 30 years in the field, first at Newsday, a Long Island daily, and then the New York Times, At both papers she wrote about “the garden writ large," that is, on almost anything that involved plants. She has seen not only unforgettable gardens, but national parks devastated by fire, nurseries wiped out by hurricanes, Surperfund sites, river farms of the Amazon jungle and cantaloupes ripening on a Queens fire escape. She will tell us some of these stories, and more, as well as give us a glimpse of just what it is---and takes---to be a garden writer. Mark your calendars now for this not-to-be-missed treat. Doors open at noon for seed and plant sales. No pre-registration required. NPA members free; non-members $10. Payable at the door.
