This is a two day workshop; one day in the studio workshop on June 13 and an August 22 pit firing. Both sessions are from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Led by Wayne Pennington and Chris Barbee, you will be shown the pot shapes best suited for pit firing and introduced to surface treatment options including burnishing, terrasigliata, plant materials and other treatments. Planning for the firing and assigning chores will be part of the process. This is open to beginner through advanced students; all are welcome to a fun clay adventure.
Class fee includes pit firing fee. Must bring bisque fired work to August pit firing session. Access to open studio, clay, and bisque firing costs not included. If you are not taking another class and need studio access to prepare for August firing, contact the Education Office to make special arrangements.
