Event Description

The Emmaus Trio, with guest violist Leslie Johnson, present a concert of Beethoven and Brahms. They begin with one of Beethoven’s Opus 9 String Trios, scored for violin, viola, and cello, a work that exhibits Beethoven’s creative powers and youthful exuberance. The second half of the concert features the Opus 25 Piano Quartet in G minor of Johannes Brahms. This piece, scored for piano, violin, viola, and cello, is a work of great power, beauty, and scope, with many melodies that absolutely soar! A reception follows the hour-long concert. The Emmaus Trio is Dr. Will Simpson, piano; Karin Islip, violin; and Lauren Root, cello. Dr. Simpson is Director of Music Ministries at Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church. Karin Islip, Lauren Root, and Leslie Johnson are accomplished musicians and music teachers. Please join us! The concert is FREE.
