Event Description

 

Opening day schedule. On Saturday, April 27, passengers are in for a day full of special events!

 

Starting at 10am at Bellevue Downtown Station, Sound Transit and the Bellevue Downtown Association will kick off the celebrations with a public ribbon-cutting event. At around 11am, the ribbon will officially be cut and passengers will be welcomed onboard the new 2 Line for the very first time.

 

From 11am – 4pm, riders can hop on the 2 Line from the South Bellevue and Redmond Technology Stations and enjoy a range of community events at each of the eight new stations. You’ll find everything from a bouncy house, food trucks, bike helmet giveaways, live music, fire trucks to a live and interactive mural painting.

Bellevue Downtown Station
Join us at the ribbon-cutting event on the Plaza (560 110th Ave NE) at 10am for speeches from community leaders.

 

You can also visit the street fair in partnership with Bellevue Downtown Association, featuring a family-fun station hosted by KidsQuest Children's Museum, carnival games from Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue, an interactive display of the future Grand Connection crossing project, live performances, delicious offerings from food trucks and engaging booths from local organizations.

 

BelRed Station
Visit the vibrant BelRed Arts District at BelRed Station. Join in painting a community wall mural, groove to everything from jazz to K-pop dance on the performance stage and grab delicious desserts and outstanding coffee from food trucks.

Spring District Station
What better way to celebrate the opening of the 2-Line than by having a party at a TOD success story? Stop by the Spring District for a fun, family-friendly experience with Meta and Wright Runstad. With live music, food trucks, KidsQuest Children’s Museum hands on experiences and discounts at local businesses, and Baby Sasquatch on the loose, the Spring District will put a spring in your step!

East Main Station
Listen to live music performances by local artists Ethan Armfield, Goldy and Foss and Neil Roberts’ Band.

 

South Bellevue Station
Celebrate the engineering feat of the 2-line opening with Pacific Science Center’s interactive pop-up exhibits (available in both English and Spanish), live music by Bellevue School of Rock and explore a Port of Seattle firetruck.

 

Wilburton Station
Bike, walk, or roll along the Eastrail to Wilburton Station. There, Eastrail Partners will discuss upcoming trail projects, bike parking options, and trail-transit connections. Joining them will be partners from the hospital district, offering an on-site physical therapist and giving away helmets and first aid kits.

 

Addition organizations include: Cascade Bike Club, Seattle Children’s, Overlake Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente.

 

Overlake Village Station
The Move Redmond celebration will be packed with fun and family friendly activities. Stop by the Move Redmond Booth to get your hands on brand new Station Access Maps, capture memorable moments at Transportation Choices photobooth, bounce in a light rail train bouncy house, indulge in delicious food, enroll in ORCA Lift and take a Lime Scooter across the street to Aloft, where you will find fantastic indoor food options, mocktails, cocktails, and a screening of the winning reels from the 2 Line Safety Competition.

Redmond Technology Station
Free Microsoft Connector shuttles to Redmond Technology Station are available from Redmond City Hall, Together Center and the Redmond Downtown Park, running every 15 minutes from 10:30am to 4:30pm.

 

At the station, join Centro Cultural Mexicano, OneRedmond and Microsoft for an unforgettable day filled with multicultural festivities at Redmond Technology Station! Swing by for live music and cultural performances, free tastes from local food trucks and Dote Coffee Bar – compliments of Microsoft, resources and giveaways at community booths and immersive photo opportunities provided by Nintendo and Minecraft.
