This transformative takeover, led by esteemed local art curator Franchesca Loving known as Fancy Vargas, aims to promote diversity, inclusion, and equity within the creative economy.

With a keen eye for talent and a passion for uplifting underrepresented voices, Fancy has carefully selected a range of art pieces, crafts, and products that showcase the vibrant creativity and unique perspectives of Black artists and entrepreneurs in our community. From striking paintings and crafts to handcrafted jewelry and artisanal goods, the gift shop takeover promises to offer visitors a rich tapestry of cultural expression and craftsmanship.

By featuring and highlighting local Black artists and businesses, this initiative represents a significant step towards creating a more equitable and inclusive creative economy. It provides a platform for talented individuals who have historically been marginalized or underrepresented in the art world, allowing them to gain visibility, recognition, and support. Additionally, by amplifying diverse voices and stories, the gift shop takeover enriches the museum experience for visitors and fosters a greater sense of connection and understanding among community members.

“I am thrilled to partner with Bellevue Art Museum to bring this dynamic showcase of local talent to their gift shop,” said Fancy Vargas. “This collaboration reflects my commitment to celebrating diversity and promoting meaningful engagement with the arts. I believe that by elevating the work of Black artists and businesses, we can contribute to a more inclusive and equitable creative ecosystem that benefits us all.”
