Each year Newsweek magazine picks the best high schools, and in its latest ranking 11 high schools in Washington state make the list of the best 1000 schools in America--the ones that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads.
Four of the 11 highest ranking schools in Washington state are in Bellevue School District: International School, which is 31st on the list; Newport, 80, Interlake, 111; and Bellevue High School, 242. Sammamish, which was ranked 369 in 2011, did not make the top 1000 high schools for the second consecutive year.
