Washington state's first ever Chick-fil-A is set to open in Bellevue in late March 2015. The company today announced its selection of entrepreneur Valerie Artis as the owner of the new Bellevue Chick-fil-A restaurant.

Artis recently relocated with her family to Bellevue from Pasadena to open the restaurant. She comes to Chick-fil-A after spending 17 years with IHOP in menu development and product marketing strategies. She is a California native and an alumna of UCLA.

"My family felt an immediate connection to Bellevue and its residents' appreciation for nature and healthy living, and we’re grateful for the warm reception that we have received," says Artis. "I'm very much looking forward to serving and building ties with the Bellevue community, and I embrace this opportunity whole-heartedly. I aim to lead by example for my sons, my future team members and those I come in contact with, and I hope that they see my journey as an example of having a plan, setting high goals and striving to achieve them. I look forward to bringing that perspective to my restaurant."

Chick-fil-A held a site dedication ceremony in Bellevue on Oct. 29 and was welcomed by Councilmembers John Stokes and Conrad Lee and more than 40 community leaders, vendors and partners, including Junior Achievement of Washington and the Washington State Potato Commission.

The Bellevue restaurant, formally named Chick-fil-A at Northeast 8th Street, will be located at 785 116th Ave NE and is the first of three Chick-fil-A locations opening in Washington this spring.
