Bellevue Beat | Sheep Shearing at Kelsey Creek Farm

Bellevue.com

Sheep shearing, one of the showier examples of farming life at Bellevue's Kelsey Creek Park, went virtual this year. If you missed this year's shearing event on April 28, you can watch it here, see how sheep are getting sheared of their wooly coats (known as fleece), and learn more about the shearing process and other fun and educational facts.

The annual sheep shearing event originated in the early '90s, and has drawn ever-increasing crowds each spring. The shearing of the sheep is a traditional farm practice to gather wool for a variety of textiles. Each sheep produces from six to ten pounds of wool each year.
