Event Description

When the Eastside was still known as a sleepy suburb, small air parks operated in Juanita, Issaquah and Kent. Some air parks even had NIKE missiles, and in the 1970s Redmond had contemplated building a commercial airport where today’s Watershed Park resides. Join us this Sunday for Eastside Heritage Center’s Annual Membership Meeting, featuring an inclusive talk on the Eastside’s aviation history. The program will be presented by EHC Board Member, Sherry Grindeland, who will discuss early birdmen, local airports, and air defense during WWII and the Cold War; as well as wishful thinking by City planners and D.B. Cooper!
