RESONANCE at SOMA Towers is an intimate community-oriented concert and event venue uniquely designed to provide an acoustic that highlights the natural qualities of the human voice and non-amplified instruments.

 

Resonance is excited to present our first chamber music concert featuring the musicians of The Silk Road Consort and this distinctive one-of-a-kind performance.

 

The Silk Road Consort brings together five artists recognized as specialists in the ancient musical traditions of Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. They join together to build a common understanding as they explore each other's repertoire and make space for new creative reinterpretations of their own.

 

This concert imagines sounds of the ancient Silk Road, taking the listener from Japan through China, the Middle East, and arriving eventually in Italy. Musical instruments such as various versions of the ones being played tonight -- harp, lute, flute, and percussion -- no doubt made the journey as well.
