What a fantastic Mother's Day weekend here in Bellevue. First time this year we heard the word warm used in the local weather report.

With Saturday's temperature in the low 80s, we definitely wanted to be out on, near and/or in the water and the Northwest Paddling Festival at Lake Sammamish State Park--a 15-minute drive from downtown Bellevue--was just the perfect event to spend a warm afternoon.

The Northwest Paddling Festival (May 8-9) is the largest event of its kind in the Pacific Northwest and brings paddle sports including canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards (SUP) together in one location! During the course of the two-day Paddlefest, you can demo canoes/kayaks/SUPs, take kayak tours, attend seminars and check out the latest in gear and accessories from more than 60 paddle sports businesses. You can also try your hand at SUP jousting, watch a kayak polo exhibition match or sell their old gear at the swap meet before buying new gear.

We brought along our GoPro camera of course and here's a short video of how we spent the afternoon.
