It all started with a rumor last December that Whole Foods Bellevue is moving to the former JC Penney location at Bellevue Square. Next came the telephone survey heard all around Bellevue and then the city permits for an upscale grocery store at Bellevue Square. And now the very first rendering of an upscale market in the former JC Penney location at Bellevue Square.

According to GLY website, the existing JC Penney space at Bellevue Square will become an extension of the existing mall. The new two-level space (referred to as Bellevue Square South Common Shops) will house eight new tenants that are planning to open late third quarter of 2015.

Brandon Macz at Bellevue Reporter today officially confirmed that Whole Foods will be the "upscale grocery market" coming to Bellevue Square (former site of JC Penney). The upscale market will not be Whole Foods Market but actually its smaller, more affordable 365 by Whole Foods Market store. Slated to open in the second half of 2016, the new 365 Bellevue store concept--first ever in Washington--will offer a convenient, value-oriented shopping experience featuring a curated mix of products that adhere to Whole Foods Market's industry-leading quality standards.
