We all know that REI is relocating its Redmond store back to Bellevue this fall. The specialty outdoor retailer and nation's largest consumer cooperative is moving its Redmond location to better inspire, educate and outfit over 126,000 active REI members in the Bellevue area.

REI Bellevue will occupy the second level of the new Bellevue Central Shopping Center at the northeast corner of 116th Avenue NE and NE 4th Street. The store will feature over 40,000 square feet of space with the top brands of outdoor gear and apparel for camping, climbing, cycling, fitness, hiking, travel, and seasonal snow and water sports. The store’s bike shop will provide cyclists with expert assembly and repair services, and the snow shop will offer a full range of ski and snowboard services. Two other retailers slated to join REI at the new shopping center include Trader Joe's and HomeGoods, a home décor and furniture store.

REI's current headquarters is located in Kent. According to industry sources, the company is looking at new headquarters locations and that Bellevue's Spring District and Renton's the Southport project are the top contenders.

REI announced on March 29, 2016, that it has chosen Bellevue's Spring District as the location of its new headquarters. The company has some 1,200 employees at its current Kent headquarters. The relocation will most likely take place in 2020.
