The Spring District in Bellevue is a massive 36-acre, multi-phase, mixed-use, multi-everything development project spanning some 16 city blocks that will feature commercial, educational and residential projects, including hotels, restaurants and diverse local shops. When completed, The Spring District urban neighborhood will have over 5.3 million square feet of space in buildings ranging from three to 12 stories with supporting retail amenities.

The Spring District is being designed to meet the LEED-Neighborhood Development standards and will offer views of the Cascade Mountains, downtown Bellevue, Lake Washington, Seattle, the Olympic Mountains and Mt. Rainier.

According to industry sources, REI is looking at new headquarters locations and Spring District is among the top contenders for REI's new headquarters. Located at the intersection of SR-520 and I-405, Spring District offers easy access to Bellevue, Redmond, Seattle, SeaTac Airport and the surrounding communities. Light rail, pedestrian, bicycle, vehicular and mass-transit connections will give The Spring District tenants a range of transportation choices.

REI announced on March 29, 2016, that it has chosen Bellevue's Spring District as the location of its new headquarters. The company has some 1,200 employees at its current Kent headquarters. The relocation will most likely take place in 2020.
