The new 520 floating bridge is about 95% complete. WSDOT is currently finishing up some lighting and barrier and estimates that by April 25 drivers will be able to drive on the new 520 bridge in both directions. But you don't have to wait that long to experience the new 520 bridge.

On April 2-3, the public is invited to come out to a weekend of grand opening celebrations to check out the bridge before you drive it. This is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be among the first to walk on the world's longest floating bridge connecting Bellevue and Seattle. So mark your calendars!

Weekend festivities on the new bridge include a fun run and walk, an Emerald City Bike ride, and a variety of interactive, informative, and fun activities for people of all ages. On the bridge you will find exhibits from the Pacific Science Center, expert LEGO builders and an assortment of activities highlighting the science, technology, engineering, and math that went into building the world's longest floating bridge.

Here are some photos from the public grand opening event on April 2, 2016.
